A food delivery marketplace built around independent restaurants. Kitchens run their own delivery and keep more of every order.
We build our own products and run them ourselves.
Ascension Labs is a technology company. We build software, take it to market, and stay to run it — the product, the payments, the support. We’re not an incubator, an agency or an investor.
Products we own, operate and support.
More to follow.
myscran was built by someone who worked in one.
Years in a family-run takeaway came before any of the software. That is why the commission starts at 12%, and why the kitchen keeps its own delivery.
The people behind the company.
John Lam
John has been a software engineer since 2014 — twelve years across law firms, IT infrastructure, semiconductor, finance and print. Different industries with one thing in common: systems people depend on, where getting it wrong is expensive.
The takeaway trade came first. Before the software career there were years working in a family-run takeaway, and that is where myscran comes from — knowing what a Friday night actually looks like behind the counter, and what the commission really costs a kitchen that size.
Ascension Labs was formed to build and hold that product, and the ones that follow — and John builds them.
Makbul Ali
Makbul has spent a career in financial planning and management — telecommunications, hospitality software, private equity, mutual fund management and payments technology. Different sectors, the same question in each: what does this actually cost to run, and do the numbers hold up?
A fully qualified CIMA accountant (ACMA, CGMA), with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Finance and Accounting from the University of Salford — and later back at Salford as a mentor, helping undergraduates into the profession.
Ascension Labs was formed to build products and hold them for the long term. That only works if the numbers do.
